Mareeba Aged Care in Maclean has appointed a new Director of Nursing, Rachel Bennett.

Rachel takes up the role after working at Mareeba for seven years in a variety of roles, including as a Registered Nurse and as the Acting Deputy Director of Nursing. Rachel started her career at Mareeba as an Assistant in Nursing whilst studying nursing at Charles Sturt University.

"I'm fortunate to have worked closely with Mareeba's leadership team over many years, and I pay tribute to the recently retired Director of Nursing, Jillian Browne," said Rachel.

"I consider it a privilege to be able to celebrate ageing in a community that I grew up in and am very proud to be managing a service that values and cares for older members of our community. It's such a warm and supportive community and Mareeba is central to that spirit."

Mareeba Aged Care Director Steve Gordon said: "Rachel brings a depth of experience to the role, much of that gained as she flourished and rose through the ranks. She has a great connection with our residents and staff."
